7 laws for a better world

The 7 laws of Noah - the Chart of the Nations - constitute the oldest legislative and moral code of humanity, but also the most modern guide for 21st century man. It leads man to fulfill his highest potential, as a being formed and organized in the image of his Creator. These laws remind man of his moral responsibilities and constitute the most reliable guide to reach a universal peace, for a better world.

There is a popular saying according to which "the world was not made in one day". Which is another way of saying that every human undertaking needs to inscribe itself inside a progressive and evolutionary temporal process. And G.d gave us a striking example of it. Indeed, He could have created the world in only one day. However, He created it in six days. That is to teach us that every undertaking, be it artistic, scientific, philosophical or ethical, is never resulting from spontaneous generation, but is rather the result of a long and difficult reflexion and research which enabled the fruit to mature and to be plucked for the wellbeing of very whole Humanity.

Moral progress does not depart from the rule. Since the craddle of its History, the world knew immorality under all its forms: the murder of Abel by Caïn, incest and theft with the antediluvian generations, the rebellion against G.d expressed in unison by the men from the Tower of Babel, which caused their dispersion and the division of the world in seventy languages. Thus goes the history of the world, wavering between morality and immorality. Today more than ever, after the cruelties and atrocities of the recent wars, Humanity became aware that it will not be able to live in peace by measuring its moral behaviours on the scales of an individualistic ethic and its sole human intelligence.

After generations of conflicts, humanity aspires to a new era where peace would reign, together with justice and the respect of human rights. Everyone remembers the fall of the Berlin Wall or the disappearance of the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Other strongholds of oppression still need to tumble, but the hope to see one day the fulfillment of the verse of Isaiah [ II-4 ] engraved on the frontispice of UNO persists. Many still are victims of war, hunger, poverty. However, the world constantly produces more riches and should one day arrive at a better sharing of resources. Admittedly, this world is made of many cultures at sometime different or opposed, people still fight for their independence and a great part of humanity still lives in famine and misery. One can't avoid to notice in our immediate environment that people are being baffled, that acts are being perpetrated against any justice and any respect of the individual. How is it possible that in a world which can produce so much scientific progress, where knowledge reaches every day unsuspected levels, that such a world is prey to so many iniquities, unto the core of a people who was known to be at the ridge of progress and culture and technology? Apparently, values forged by humanity alone cannot be sufficient for nurturing a worthy and righteous humanity. Man must recognize what transcends his person and to understand that the world could be maintained only by endorsing the ways of its Creator.

But is such a world possible? The answer is yes. The facts speak by themselves: that world which, last century, invested such an amount of energy to go blind-minded behind leaders who involved it in useless wars, that same world was subjected to deep changes at the time of second half of the same century. Humanity managed to recognize that peace, justice and freedom are values which it is advisable to promote. Now that the cold war is over, nations seek to prevent the proliferation of the nuclear weapons, to even destroy them, and many nations accessed to their independence. The path is still long and still requires a serious investment by mankind, but the goal to reach is clear.

The Bible affirms that the world will arrive to its completion with the Redemption, at the Messianic times. The nations are invited to make a chain around the faith in our Creator and the respect of His injunctions as Isaiah the prophet has it : "Then I will bring back the nations to a pure language in order to serve one single worship.

One can nowadays count no less than 35 websites, more than 40 books and booklets in various languages, and tens of non-profit laic and religious organizations, that operate with eagerness to diffuse these Laws by means of workshops, conferences, radios, etc.
